Good morning Army and Navy fans from around the globe! Yesterday was a big day, officially kicking off the countdown to the 113th installment in the greatest rivalry in sports - Army vs. Navy on Dec. 8.
As you saw in yesterday’s post, the annual Army-Navy Media Luncheon took place at Lincoln Financial Field and included players, coaches and several Philadelphia big Whigs speaking. For Army, captains Trent Steelman, Jarrett Mackey and Nate Combs made the trip. For Navy, captains Brye French and Bo Snelson were in attendance. In addition, Army head coach Rich Ellerson and Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo addressed the media. Speakers during the formal lunch portion included emcee Beasley Reece of CBS, Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter and athletic directors from both academies.
One of the most popular stops at the media luncheon was to check out the 170-pound shining Commander In Chief’s Trophy that was on display for photo ops and more. For the first time since 2005, the winner of this year’s Army-Navy game will go home with the coveted CIC hardware (pictured above).
It was also a really big day for our Army-Navy Social Media committee, which worked hard to provide real-time and after-the-fact updates on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pintrest and Instagram. Be sure and check out all of the contest via the links below.
For now, here are a couple exciting highlights:
